GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARFORSOC) is seeking interested active-duty officers assigned the Military Occupational Specialties of 73xx and 75xx to serve in 24-month length Air Officer tours beginning in Fiscal Year 2024.
2. Interested officers should submit applications to the MARFORSOC G-3 Assistant Air/Fires Officer NLT 14 April 2023. Applicants must contact their monitor to confirm eligibility prior to beginning the application process. In concert with Manpower Management Officer Assignments Branch (MMOA), MARFORSOC will make final selections in May 2023.
3. Eligibility.
3.a. Eligibility criteria. Applicants must be active-duty commissioned officers with the following specific qualifications:
3.a.1. Regular commissioned officer in the rank of Captain or Major.
3.a.2. Designated Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, or Unmanned Aerial Systems Officer.
3.a.3. Must be medically qualified to attend Full Spectrum Level C SERE upon assignment to MARFORSOC, if not already SERE Level C complete. Applicants shall submit letter signed by a medical provider to certify their medical qualification, or a SERE Level C completion certificate.
3.a.4. Applicants shall have completed minimum time-on-station (TOS) requirements for their assignment and be eligible to move in FY24. Applicants must notify their PMOS monitor of their intent to apply and receive email confirmation verifying that they meet TOS requirements, to be included in their application.
3.a.5. MMOA will consider incurred obligated service waivers on a case-by-case basis.
3.b. Ineligibility criteria.
3.b.1. Officers in the above-zone for promotion on FY25 Promotion Selection Boards.
3.b.2. Officers unable to deploy world-wide while assigned to MARFORSOC.
3.c. Additional considerations.
3.c.1. Applicants should possess a strong fires integration background. Previous Air Officer and Forward Air Controller tours as well as aircraft qualifications such as Forward Air Controller (Airborne) and instructor qualifications/designations are highly desirable.
3.c.2. Following selection, applicants must successfully complete Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic/Pacific Tactical Air Control Party school and be awarded the additional MOS of 7502 prior to check-in.
4. Selectees will be approved by MMOA prior to notification.
5. Application process.
5.a. Interested officers must contact the MARFORSOC Assistant Air/Fires Officer, Major Andrew Behrends, via the email listed in paragraph (6) to receive a Prospective Air Officer Resume and Prospective Air Officer Information Sheet, as well as further information on required documents.
5.b. Applicants will submit all required documents via email in portable document format (pdf), unless otherwise indicated. Applicants shall carbon copy (CC) their PMOS monitor on all correspondence when submitting their application to the MARFORSOC Assistant Air/Fires Officer.
