GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The purpose of this MARADMIN is to provide an update of awards since the last update, MARADMIN 473/20.
2.  The following unit awards are authorized and will be incorporated in ref A.

Note:  Per ref B, service units and individuals assigned to service units in support of these joint organizations are not eligible for the JMUA listed above (2.a.1-2.a.4).  Only those members of the Armed Forces of the United States who were present at the time and directly participated in the service or achievement for at least 30 days or, for the period cited if the period cited is less than 30 days, are authorized to wear the JMUA ribbon.  Personnel must be assigned and/or attached by official orders to the joint unit or task force headquarters receiving the JMUA.  The commander of the unit cited may waive, on an individual basis, the 30-day minimum time requirement for individuals (reserve personnel on active duty and TDY and/or TAD personnel) who, in the opinion of the commander, contributed directly to the achievement cited, and were assigned on official orders to the awarded unit during the approved time frame.

3.  Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (IRCM).
3.a.  The CMC has determined that the Marine Security Guards (MSG) at the U.S. Embassies in Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq are in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and therefore are eligible for the IRCM.  Only those Marines permanently assigned, attached or detailed for 30 days (consecutive or non-consecutive) to MSG Detachments Bagdad and Erbil, Iraq during one of the following campaign phases, or future approved campaign phases, are eligible for the award.

3.b.  Commanding Officers are authorized to issue the medal and make appropriate entries in Marine Corps Total Force System for those Marines that meet the eligibility criteria.  Marines who have been retired or discharged without further obligated service must submit a Standard Form 180 for the medal and update of their DD-214 to the Commandant of the Marine Corps (MMMA) via USPS to 2008 Elliot Road, Quantico VA 22134-5030; fax (703) 784-9866 or via email to [email protected].  Marines who have been released from active duty with further obligated service, but who are not in an active drill status (E.G., IRR status), must submit their request to Marine Corps Individual Reserve Support Activity, 2000 Opelousas Avenue, New Orleans LA 70114.
3.c.  This authority will expire upon termination of Operation Inherent Resolve.
